Staffordshire Two Color Green & Yellow Transferware Plate

George Jones and Sons

Crescent Potteries

Great Britain / Made In England

Circa 1921-33

Yellow transferware is the rarest of all colors and two color transfers are even rarer paired with another color.  This beautiful green and yellow transfer printed platter dates to about 1921-33 and was made by George Jones / Crescent Pottery.  The platter features a gorgeous yellow transfer printed backdrop in a chintz or sheet pattern.   Printed over the chintz, in brown, are beautiful blossoms and roses.  It is painted by hand with shades of red, blue, and green.  So very pretty and cheerful color combination!  The handles and rim are beautifully embossed.

The company began operation in c.1864 at Stoke Upon Trent at the Trent Potteries Works as George Jones and in 1873 became George Jones & Sons Ltd. They produced gorgeous majolica and earthen wares.
In 1907 the works was renamed Crescent Potteries.
George Jones died in 1893.

Measures appx 8"
Condition: There is crazing present, commensurate to its age, light browning to mostly the back.  Very nice overall.
